The Proper Humidity in Humidors
Humidors require that you maintain a constant humidity level. A relative humidity of 65-75% is considered ideal. For this reason, Spanish-cedar is a wood commonly used to construct these. Spanish-cedar holds more moisture than other woods while repelling tobacco beetles. As these boxes are commonly used for cigar storage, this wood is ideal. One thing to note is that a humidor needs to be kept filled or partially filled to avoid empty space. This is due to the fact that empty space causes humidity to drop at a faster rate. It is important to remember that these containers are not just decorative boxes and a lot goes into maintaining them.
