I enjoyed cooking even when I was young, so it was no surprise to any of my friends or family when, after taking a cooking class in high school, I ended up going to a university for culinary arts after I graduated. It’s in New York, and in class yesterday we were talking about soul food, and our teacher began to tell us about soul food restaurants in Brooklyn NY. She explained some of the dishes that were commonly cooked there, and when we all seemed interested, she said that even though it wasn’t in the curriculum, she would take us through a few dishes the next day. We’re all pretty excited.
