Medical Translation of Terminology
A medical translator has to translate brochures or patient directions into another language. This field of Medical Translation requires you to know many languages preferably. Don’t assume that if you have learnt French in school, it will suffice. You will have to get formally trained in the language for working as a translator.
Moreover, you will also have to learn the medical terms used in all the languages that you know. There are short courses that will teach you this. Otherwise you can work in a hospital for a while and try to be familiar with the procedures and methods of communication with the patient. When you are aware of the patient’s requirements when he is ill, you can translate better.
